FAITH IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM

by Idaline Prince

“In the eye of the storm, You remain in control

In the middle of the war, You guard my soul

You alone are the anchor, when my sails are torn

Your love surrounds me in the eye of the storm”

Ryan Stevenson

Every song that we listen to or sing, is packed with great biblical truth and sculpts a view of God afresh in the changing scenarios of our lives. The encouragement found in this song comes as a reminder that despite the circumstance we find ourselves in, God is in control. One thing uniting people globally is the fact that we all experience storms in life, failures and defeats. In the middle of that, when we feel our sails are ripped out and we are tossed by the waves, we can feel like the Lord isn't paying attention to us and He's overlooked us. But the song writer turns our focus back to God mentioning that He is our hope and the anchor.

Let me draw your attention to two responses, one is from Mark 4:35-41. The disciples asked Jesus, “Don’t you care that we drown?” The disciples who witnessed one miracle after the other should have responded with faith asking Jesus to calm the storm.

Another response of an ordinary man who lost his children, wealth and health in a day;  Job recounts that he was stripped of honor, alienated and forgotten by friends and family, ridiculed and scorned by all who passed by. Yet after the great storm, he chose to bow and acknowledge God, who was Sovereign in His life. In Job 19:25, Job says, “My redeemer lives.” When the mountains quake and the sea rages, let us be still and say “It is well with my soul”

Stop hanging out with worry and doubt and make faith your new best friend!!

“Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10

Whenever you face a difficult situation, remember the commandment to be still and you will find God’s peace flooding your soul.
